http://www.frackfreedee.co.uk anti fracking group north uk

Frack Free Dee is a collective of concerned residents groups, located loosely around the River Dee catchment in Cheshire, Wirral, North East Wales and North Shropshire.  Our aim is to peacefully campaign against all forms of extreme energy with particular focus on Coal Bed Methane (CBM)Shaleand Underground Coal Gasification (UCG)all of which are commonly referred to as FRACKING.  While there are a lot of differing technical details these processes all involve drilling large numbers of multi-directional wells at regular intervals ultimately covering the landscape.  The scale of these new, more intense methods is like nothing we have seen before and to add some perspective, up until now the largest onshore gas field in the UK, Saltfleetby in Lincolnshire, had only 8 wells. To produce the same amount of gas extracted via Shale/CBM it would require hundreds of wells to be drilled.
