Earth Energy Network :: Home

Welcome to the Earth Energy Network!

Earth Energy Network is the UK network of LifeNet, an international network of individuals who work to support human beings and the Earth in her many dimensions with the process of transformation taking place at this time.

It is a time of profound transformation on human, cosmic and global levels and new opportunities are arising to create the culture of co-creation that Marko Pogačnik calls Geoculture.

This network is for people who co-operate with the multi-level, subtle realms of existance through projects, courses, meditations, initiatives, groups and workshops.

Day of Dissent 18 April Democracy vs TTIP https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100009169643206&hc_location=friend_browser&fref=pymk #olsx @occupynn

At its heart, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership is an assault on democracy. So, on the international day of action on 18 April we are responding to this corporate power grab through enacting democracy ourselves - let this be our Day of Dissent!

‘Democracy vs TTIP’ will feature an open, participatory assembly on TTIP with opening comments from John Hilary (Executive Director, War on Want), Jenny Jones (Green Party) and Guy Taylor (Trade Campaigner, Global Justice Now).

This will be followed by mass public outreach - we will talk to hundreds of people, using face-to-face dialogue to bring to light an issue that is so crucial to us all, but invisible to so many. Alongside this, there will be workshops at our Activist Hub on other Free Trade Agreements such as CETA and TiSA for people wanting to develop their knowledge or skills when campaigning.

It will be an exciting day. Join us!

This London event for the International Day of Action is supported by Global Justice Now, War on Want, Friends of the Earth, 38degress, Brick Lane Debates, This Changes Everything, Keep Our NHS Public & Students Against TTIP.

BREAKING: Occupy Rupert Murdoch Week Closes Entrance to News HQ to Highlight the Right-Wing Media Billionaires’ Hijacking of Britain’s Democracy #olsx @occupynn #bohemians4soho

BREAKING: Occupy Rupert Murdoch Week Closes Entrance to News HQ to Highlight the Right-Wing Media Billionaires’ Hijacking of Britain’s Democracy

About 50 Occupy Rupert Murdoch supporters have shut down the entrance to Rupert Murdoch’s News UK office in a peaceful Gandhian direct action. The action forms part of a week-long protest against the hi-jacking of Britain’s democracy by the five extremist, right-wing, tax-avoiding, media billionaires*.
One of the protestors, Donnachadh McCarthy, speaking at front of the entrance said:
“Occupy has closed the front door of News UK, Rupert Murdoch's HQ, due to his war crimes, attacks on the poor, political blackmail and climate denial. It is time to end hijacking of Britain’s democracy by the five right-wing extremist billionaires.”
The week-long protest outside Rupert Murdoch’s new News UK HQ at the Mini-Shard, London Bridge, London from 23rd-29th March, 2015 has been calling for the endorsement of the draft Occupy Charter for a Free Democratic Press, by all the UK’s major party leaders, prior to the May general election.
The Occupy Rupert Murdoch Week spokesperson said “The Leveson inquiry not only revealed the callous invasion of the privacy of grieving families, through industrial scale hacking, but equally importantly exposed the fact that Britain’s politicians have been blackmailed and bullied by these media corporations for a generation.
“The fourth estate is a crucial pillar of the UK’s democracy.  It is time to remove these five extremist billionaires from our fourth estate and ensure the press reflects the needs of all the people and not just the 1% corporate billionaire class. We call on Ofcom to immediately declare all five to be not fit and proper persons to hold media proprietorships.”
Notes to Editors:
1] Occupy Rupert Murdoch Week is being staged by “Occupy the Media Billionaires”, an autonomous group formed from “Occupy Democracy”.
2] Full details about Occupy Rupert Murdoch Week available at www.occupythemedia.org.uk
3] *The five billionaires who control over 80% of the UK’s press, as well as vast tranches of our television stations, radio stations, news agencies, book publishers, cinema & TV production  companies are:

Rupert Murdoch, News UK
Lord Rothermere, Daily Mail Group
Richard Desmond, The Express Group
The Barclay Brothers, The Telegraph Group
4] Occupy Rupert Murdoch Week will be launched following the presentation of a giant Arrest Warrant for Rupert Murdoch to his News UK HQ at 11amon Monday 23rd March.

The warrant will say that the crimes that Murdoch is wanted for include:
War Crimes, Political Blackmail, Phone Hacking, Tax-dodging.

Then each day will have a range of actions and protests outlining the crimes Murdoch and his fellow right-wing extremist media billionaires have committed on a daily theme.

These include crimes against:
The Environment, Poverty, Human Rights, Health and Privatisation, Democracy

On the Saturday morning this will culminate in a People’s Trial of Rupert Murdoch and on Saturday afternoon there will be a mass call-out and “Reclaim The Sun” rally surrounding the News HQ.

The final day, Sunday, will have a morning featuring the rich Indy alternative press that already exists and the afternoon will feature a closing musical celebration and closing ceremony.

5] For those unable to come to London, a range of non-violent direct actions that people can undertake themselves across the country will be launched at the beginning of the week.
Draft Occupy Charter for a Free Democratic Press
We, the people, deplore the fact that the UK’s democracy has been captured by 5 corrupt, right-wing, extremist media-billionaires. Their ownership of nearly all the UK's television stations, news agencies, radio stations, cinemas, book publishers, TV companies, cinema companies and 80% of the UK’s newspapers, means that these 5 extremists control an unacceptable proportion of what Britons see, read or listen to.
This corrupt power has enslaved our politicians in all the major parties and as the Leveson inquiry showed, they have treasonously blackmailed the UK’s politicians for a generation.
We need a free democratic press, one that serves the 100% and not the 0.1%, recognising that it is essential for the creation of a Britain with true social, political and ecological justice.
We therefore call for:
1. Ofcom to rule Murdoch, Rothermere, Desmond and Barclay Brothers ineligible to be media owners in the UK
2. Maximum share of market for any one private corporation to be reduced to 10% and for any one individual (either solely or corporately) to be 5%.
3.  Major media companies should be owned by employee ownership trusts
4. A Press Complaints Commission should be immediately established that is totally independent of the media, as it is successfully in Finland.
5. Full trade-union rights should be allowed for all journalists and media workers.
6. Media companies or owners with bank accounts in tax-havens to be barred from operating in the UK.
7. An independent, diverse media to be part-funded by a levy on larger media company profits. This would include support for independent local and national media companies.
8. An immediate boycott of News UK (The Sun/The Times/Sky), Daily Mail, The Express and Telegraph Groups and all other corporate media which do not conform to the spirit and letter of the articles in this charter.
9. All institutional and other shareholders to divest their shareholdings from these corrupt corporations until such time as Item 1 has been met.
10. People across the UK to stage their own local non-violent direct actions against these corporations and their papers/TV stations.
11. Private corporate directors to be removed from the BBC Trust’s chair and board.

The anarchists even the Daily Mail supports | ShortList Magazine

It started with the kind of generous idea only Scrooge himself would have a problem with. Having occupied London’s Cavell House, the vacant former RBS head office, the Love Activists, a collective of homeless radicals who combine the revolutionary eloquence of Tyler Durden with the constructive community spirit of Emmet from The Lego Movie, announced its plan to serve Christmas dinner for the estimated 6,000 street homeless in London.
On Christmas Eve, owners of the building, Greencap – a defunct Jersey-registered company – obtained an emergency possession order, which led to a dramatic eviction, ignoring a pending court case to decide the legal status of the occupation.
Images of core Love Activists, including Danny Freeman, balancing precariously on one of the building’s tiny balconies (see previous page) to buy time for their pro bono legal team to overturn the order, leads to a mass outpouring of support from the press and public, with even the Daily Mail supporting their efforts.
An out-of-hours judge agrees to review the case, finding in the Love Activists’ favour, but police employ delaying tactics to prevent the group re-entering the building. Instead, they pitch up on the pavement opposite and distribute public donations of food, clothes and sleeping bags until the new year. For them, eviction is an occupational inevitability. And this is only the beginning.

Who we are
Well Grounded is a group of activists who are passionate about sustaining activism from the inside out, encouraging a climate of looking after ourselves and each other so that we can keep on the fight for a better world.
We observe that activism is often physically and emotionally exhausting, involves going to boundaries and often beyond them, and can at times feel hopeless, uncomfortable and overwhelming. To be able to carry on doing what we do, we recognise the importance of taking care of our needs, stopping sometimes to rest, finding space for our feelings before they get on top of us, and staying connected with each other and ourselves.

What we do
*On-action support spaces for recovering & re-charging (quiet held spaces for listening, tea, resting, massage etc.)
*“Roaming” support at actions / demos
*Referrals for post-action trauma support (links with trained counsellors)
*Monthly drop-in space in London: support, networking, idea-gathering
*Facilitating post-action debriefing sessions
*Workshops on sustaining activism

Sustaining Resistance, Empowering Renewal:
Tools for Effective and Sustainable Activism
A 12 day residential workshop in rural Devon
11th – 22nd May 2015
This workshop offers personal and collective tools to help make our activism more effective. The workshop aims to help us stay inspired, nourished, empowered and creative. It offers space to reflect and analyse, helping us to stay involved for the long haul, create personal sustainability and bring continuity to our groups and movements. It aims to explore ways of working which keep our groups sustainable and effective in the struggle against social and economic injustice and ecological destruction.
The workshop provides an opportunity to get away from our busy lives and take stock, taking time to reflect on our activist experiences and history and to identify and draw upon sources of nourishment, inspiration, creativity and resilience, and develop skills that can help us make changes that will support personal sustainability and wellbeing. It also provides an opportunity to develop skills for organising and working in groups that will help avoid a burnout culture in our groups and networks. The workshop venue, on the edge of Dartmoor, provides ideal conditions for this reflection and renewal.
The course is offered by the ecodharma collective (www.ecodharma.com) and Seeds for Change (www.seedsforchange.org.uk). Places are limited.
Application deadline Friday 3rd April. For more information and an application form please call 01865 403 134 or email kathryn@seedsforchange.org.uk

Grangegorman complex squat in Dublin needs support Violent Eviction attempts by Ernst and Young #olsx

Hey folks,

I hope it's ok to email you out of the blue like this.

Members  of my community are facing sudden, violent and unlawful
eviction by  Garda-backed thugs hired by a Ernst & Young. Many have
been badly  injured, suffering broken legs and concussions while many
more are left  severly traumatised.

Their personal property has been  stolen, their homes ransacked and
their bodies beaten, all for a  developer who has been leaving this
property to rot for the last 6 years  before it was occupied and
worked on by the squatters.

"I  am extremely stressed at the prospect of losing my home and
severally  traumatised by the brutality that took place yesterday.
Today I haven't  been capable of doing much other than puke and cry.
Tomorrow looks like  it's going to be a rough day for us and we really
need people to come  out and support us. Please if you have any time
to spare join us."

"People are seriously injured. People almost died. For a property
developer."

The Irish State: Stop the eviction of the Grangegorman squatted
community Dublin

There  is a vibrant community who are occupying a vacant property in
Grangegorman, Dublin City. They have provided an artist space,
community  garden, event space, home to up to 30 people and space for
green  technologies among other things. The wider community in Dublin
has  benefited greatly from this space over the past year and a half,
and we  would petition the Irish State to preserve this community.

Sweets Way residential, social housing Occupation change.org petition network it #olsx

The residents of Sweets Way, an estate in London, have been fighting to keep their homes for the last few weeks. All but 10 of the 160 families have been evicted so far but the residents are standing their ground -- they started a petition which has over 50,000 signatures and have occupied the empty flats to stop them from being demolished.
Annington have now gone to the courts to remove the residents. They have been summoned before Barnet County Court next Monday. The residents need as many signatures as possible before then -- they need to demonstrate to the courts that public support is on their side.

Annington, Barnet Homes: Stop the demolition of the Sweets Way estate, stop the evictions of current residents and offer decanted residents the right to return to their former homes at truly affordable rents.

Sweets Way Resists
London, United Kingdom
Sweets Way Estate used to be a tight-nit community in Barnet, London, with families and children who played and went to school together. Now Sweets Way is the site of protest, where these same families are pleading with the council not to push them from their homes.
We are Sweets Way Resists, a group of residents and ex-residents of the Sweets Way estate who are being evicted so that the estate can be redeveloped and turned into flats for the wealthy.
Before December there were 160 homes on the estate, all but 10 families have now been evicted and rehoused mostly out of the borough -- some even out of London. Most of these are families with children who have had their lives uprooted and moved away from their community, their friends and their schools.
The property is being developed by the company Annington -- one of the largest property developers in the UK. In December, Barnet Council approved Annington’s application to redevelop Sweets Way - meaning pushing out all current residents and replacing the existing homes with up to 288 new ones. Almost all of these new homes will be for the wealthy.
And meanwhile the families of Sweets Way have been forced into homes that are too small, too far from schools (meaning some of the children have had to miss school) and none have been told where or how they will be housed long term. But we don’t want to be rehoused -- we want our homes back.
According to Annington’s plans, the ten families left on the estate will be removed by the end of this month.  We won’t let that happen -- we’re standing our ground, occupying the empty flats and will stand together until Richard Cornelius, Leader of Barnet Council and Annington meet our demands.
Barnet Homes has repeatedly told us that there are no appropriate homes for us in the borough, but they are wrong -- we are living in them! Our homes are well-built and perfectly habitable and the estate offers green spaces and gardens for our kids to play and the community to come together. Annington’s so-called ‘regeneration’ of our estate benefits private developers at the expense of our community.
We demand:
1. No demolition of the homes on Sweets Way estate
2. Repopulation of empty homes, with right to return for all decanted residents
3. Immediate stop to all eviction proceedings against residents
If Annington can’t provide homes at Sweets Way that we can afford, we demand that they sell the estate to Barnet Council at a cost the council can afford.

Aylesbury Occupation still ongoing update #olsx @occupynn @bohemians4soho

When we formed a squatters' bloc for the March for Homes, and then entered the first Chartridge block on Saturday 31st January, we never imagined that SEVEN weeks later, we'd still be on the estate, occupying our third block, and despite the measures taken by the council, still resisting the 'regeneration' plans, alongside all the tenants and leaseholders we've made friends with.

For anyone who hasn't visited or seen the place recently, we are now occupying Chiltern House, on the corner of Albany Road and Portland Street. We began by taking the lower floors - formerly the council's own Regenration and Planning Offices but left empty since 2009 - but last weekend moved into flats upstairs as well.

It's not as easy to visit as it used to be. The council have spent many thousands of pounds erecting a big fence around not just us but also the remaining residents in what they call the 'First Development Site', and insisting that even the tenants can only use one of the seven gates around the site. There are between 10-30 security guards on duty at any time, guarding all the gates.

But there are still ways to get in! Even if you're not a super-confident climber. And we would dearly love to see you. We have an array of baths on the 12th/13th floor (including on the balcony for those who like to bathe with a view!) and continuous hot water, so bring a towel and spend a few hours here!

We're going to start running "very practical, hands-on practical squatting skillshares", for anybody who's interested in the possibility of squatting on the Aylesbury itself, or elsewhere. The first one will probably be tomorrow evening (Tuesday 24th). So that's a good time to come down if you want the full guided tour.

The occupation "site phone" is still 0754 680 4591. Give us a ring if you're thinking of coming, so we can advise you on the best way to get in at the time. Even if you just want to drop off supplies or have a chat over the fence, and not come inside the enclosure, we'd love to see you!

As of writing, we still haven't received any court papers for our latest occupation (and we've been there for almost three weeks!) so we've no idea when we might get evicted from it. Come now while you can!
