THE SOLUTION

Extraction Ocean plastic does not disappear by itself so it has to be cleaned up. That’s why we’re developing the Ocean Cleanup Array, a floating network of barriers that can extract plastic for recycling. A single Ocean Cleanup Array can clean up half the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 10 years’ time.

Prevention Prevention is an essential part of stopping plastic pollution. By regularly informing the public about the development of our cleanup technology, The Ocean Cleanup is raising awareness of the plastic pollution problem and promoting prevention.

Interception Spin-off technologies deployed in rivers will be able to rapidly reduce the influx of new plastic in the oceans. The Ocean Cleanup plans to develop interception systems in the future.
