GIVE US SPACE is
a feature documentary attempting to explain the complexity of the
housing crisis in London. Filmed over 2013-2014, the film focus on
housing as a human need and Human Right, interviewing people and
following empowering grass-roots movements, self-organized events and
housing struggles, while recognizing the vital importance of resistance;
squatting empty properties to put them to good purpose and co-operative
housing schemes seem essential indicators of alternatives and community
building strategies.
Our focus is on people
and their strugles as they are affected by the welfare reforms, housing
markets and policies, the shortage of affordable and secure housing in
London; we followed issues around social housing and gentrification,
squatting and housing co-operatives.
We wish to inform,
inspire and engage in positive change; share information and generate
awareness about the human and social impact of insecure and unaffordable
housing. We defend housing as a human need and a Human Right and stand
for affordable, secure, decent and sustainable homes for all.
