Campaign Against the Arms Trade Action Planning Sat 13th July Q: Where can you find the companies supplying teargas used in Turkey, Brazil and Bahrain?

Q: Where can you find the Russian arms suppliers to Syrian President Assad, Israeli companies displaying “battle-tested” weapons and the companies supplying teargas used in Turkey, Brazil and Bahrain?
A: At a massive arms fair which is planned to take place in London in just two months' time.

The UK government plans to invite human rights abusing regimes, such as Algeria, Bahrain, Columbia, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam, to London to court them and sell weapons. Hundreds of arms companies have booked to attend – and there are few limits on who is welcome.
A concerted campaign in Australia stopped their arms fair in 2008. Can you help do the same here?
Demonstration outside the National Gallery
When the arms fair took place in 2011, we challenged the opening night arms dealers’ reception at the National Gallery. One year later we put an end to an arms company’s sponsorship of the National Gallery. Now to stop the arms fair!

Come to our action-planning event on 13 July!

On Saturday 13 July, take part in a day of workshops, plotting and scheming with the Stop the Arms Fair coalition. See more information on the Friend's House (Euston) event here.
The action-planning day is in London, and CAAT can help with expenses for those travelling from elsewhere. Please reply to this email to let us know you can come and if you would like help with travel costs.

Or help step up the pressure in any of these ways...

  • Expose the companies on your doorstep that plan to be at the arms fair.
  • Invite a speaker to get local people interested in coming to take action at the arms fair.
  • Help spread the word about the day of action. Please reply to this email to order some leaflets.
  • A direct action training is planned in London for 17 August. Please reply to this email to book.
  • Put the date in your diary for a huge protest as arms dealers arrive and try to set up at the fair on Sunday 8 September.
The deals that begin here fuel the arms trade the world over. Death, injury, fear and repression are exported from the arms companies on our doorstep. But this means we can have a real impact too.
Please take whatever action you can to help push back the arms trade's business and stop this shameful arms fair.

Best wishes,
