Save the Occupied Library Strategy

At the extraordinary meeting held on Saturday in the library about the Cabinet Resources Committee meeting 17th Dec that will DECIDE HOW TO MARKET FRIERN BARNET LIBRARY, a course of action was decided:

Document that lists meeting: http://barnet.moderngov.co.uk/documents/g7370/Agenda%20frontsheet%2014th-Nov-2012%20Advanced%20Notice%20of%20Proposed%20Decisions%20under%20Executive%20Functions.pdf?T=0

1) We will email or telephone cabinet councillors

Cllr Daniel Thomas, Tel: 07944-038-591 Email: cllr.d.thomas@barnet.gov.uk
Cllr Richard Cornelius, Tel: 020 8359 2059 Email: cllr.r.cornelius@barnet.gov.uk
Cllr Robert Rams, Tel: 020 8446 7291 Email: cllr.r.rams@barnet.gov.uk
Cllr Sachin Rajput, Tel: 020 8449 3610 Email: cllr.s.rajput@barnet.gov.uk
Cllr Tom Davey, Email: cllr.t.davey@barnet.gov.uk
Cllr Andrew Harper. Tel: 020 8201 9527 Email: cllr.a.harper@barnet.gov.uk

And ask them the following questions - ideas, can be adapted - or send us your thoughts for other questions:

a) Why are you trying to interfere with the people's right to expression?
b) Why are you making a decision before the court case is decided?
c) Do you realise just how strong the wish for a community facility is?
d) In light of the artsdepot being dropped, why haven't you reviewed the original report?
e) We feel councillors haven't engaged and haven't listened to the residents of Barnet, given the new situation re artsdepot shouldn't you review the library consultations?

2) Submit questions to be asked at the meeting, these should be submitted no later than 2 working days before the meeting, preferably by the previous Wednesday 12th Dec - details will be published later as to where questions should be sent.

3) Attend the meeting on the 17th December at Hendon Town Hall

If you can’t attend the meeting then either attend the ward surgeries http://barnet.moderngov.co.uk/mgMemberIndex.aspx?FN=ALPHA&VW=LIST&PIC=0 or phone or email councillors to object to any decisions being made before the court hearing. If you phone, make sure it is at a reasonable hour and you are polite.

This is a crucial time for the library and we need your help to lobby councillors leading up to the meeting and the court case. Let the councillors know how you feel about your library and why it is important for the community to have this resource in this building in Friern Barnet.

We will let you know of any new developments in the coming weeks.

We are Community. We are Library. Expect Us!
