We'd like to invite you to the Respacing Conference and Hustings 2016 on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st April.
This event will focus on the intelligent re-use of wasted resources and the measurable benefit to the community that this offers. Wednesday will be a day of networking and infrastructure building; on Thursday we will then host a mayoral Hustings - 'Solutions for London'. The aim is to develop new systems that are flexible, efficient and powerful in delivering solutions for London ahead of the elections in May. Results, questions and findings from day one will be delivered to the London mayoral candidates at the hustings on day two.
As a showcase building, The Hive has demonstrated the feasibility of such a model and in nine short months we've seen over 4000 people, held 17 art exhibitions, numerous performance, environmental, political and cultural events and helped about 50 local charities. We've enabled people to start businesses and even had a skatepark! This has all been achieved using a system that is self-sustaining and utilises volunteers, donations, up-cycling, recycling and sharing.
We hope to unite community groups, councillors, resource and service providers, as well as developers and landlords, to develop these new systems. The hustings will provide an opportunity to question the candidates about their proposed solutions and showcase popular working models that can inform their future policy.
