Dear All London Squatters
Squatters Action for Secure Homes (SQUASH) is current putting together a research report “A 30-month Review of s144 LASPO” which we will be using to make the case that 1) the new law should be repealed, 2) no further criminalisation (ie commercial), 3) end to illegal evictions.
We have made Freedom of Information requests to the police nationally asking for statistics (see attached for data to date), but we would like more data/ case studies to back the case that, since s144 LASPO was introduced:
1) squatters have to live in more insecure and less appropriate properties
2) s144 LASPO is used on whim (not evidence) by the police
3) has encouraged owners, police, security to act more aggressively and violently
Therefore was wondering if the London squat community could offer any data or case studies to back this up, for the period 1st Sept 2011 – February 2015 (all info will be anonymous) eg:
NELSN phone: how many call-outs against evictions for the period (ideally by month)? Additional circumstances?
Case studies with regard circumstances, contact with the police, security, bailiffs, owners and squatted properties
Illegal evictions – what happened, who was responsible, what techniques did they use
Please email anything or comments to: info@squashcampaign.org or me.
Many thanks
James
