Eco-warriors, activists and local residents have occupied one of London’s last ancient forests, because it is under threat of being destroyed to build luxury housing.

There are some particularly interesting circumstances surrounding this situation: The land concerned had been bequeathed in perpetuity to the poor children of the local community for their education. The land previously hosted Middlesex University, who were trustees and not owners of the land. They fraudulently sold the land to London and Quadrant Housing Trust. Their partners in crime, Enfield Council, gave planning permission to build luxury flats.

A powerful thing about this situation is that we have a strong legal argument not just to stop the destruction of the forest and building of luxury flats, but also to legally and officially create a PERMACULTURE UNIVERSITY, ECO-VILLAGE, COMMUNITY SOCIAL CENTRE, FREE SCHOOL.
