Phoenixrainbow23@gmail.com or Phoenixrainbownew on Facebook if u do that mass surveillance ting.
One of the reasons i started this blog was that they shut down phoenix rainbow on FB for networking occupy too much in early days of the rising.
Hence had to start Phoenixrainbow new.

All across the world people are struggling for better futures. The occupy movement showed us that in over a thousand cities, there was a mass popular assembly and call out for change.

Corporations and banking institutions have been taking over our democracies.
people starve and are homeless when there is enough food to feed the world.
There are probably over 3 empty buildings for every homeless person.

Recent figures in Guardian article europe has 11 million empties and 4.1 million homeless people.
Shelter is a basic human right.Surely governments who claim to represent us should make it a priority to provide housing, yet they seem more concerned with inflating false property price bubbles, to keep economies based on the fallacy of infinite growth going.
We need to start focussing on solutions rather than problems.
Using the planets resources in a sustainable way.Keep networking keep taking direct action, looking forward to hearing from the many people places and projects out there One Love Phoenix

MIPIM: London not for sale, March 6, 2.15pm - UK Indymedia

MIPIM: London not for sale, March 6, 2.15pm - UK Indymedia:

" MIPIM is the world’s biggest property fair, where our cities and our land are up for sale. It takes place in Cannes, bringing together about 20,000 investors, developers, local authorities, and banks to figure out how to carve up our cities and sell off our land. The companies which attend MIPIM, and our government “representatives” who share their champagne, are responsible for the eviction of communities, the gentrification of our neighbourhoods, and the housing crisis itself. This year, on March 12th, people in cities across Europe are taking action to denounce the sale of our cities. The actions have been called by the European Action Coalition for the Right to Housing and the City, and is supported here by the Radical Housing Network. "

Lambeth Renters refuse meeting with local MP | Lambeth Renters:

"Facing high rents, poor standards and no security, most renters have it pretty bad. But we’re well aware that we’re not unique in having major issues with our housing. We know that the root of the housing problems faced by the majority of people is the same: a  system that puts profits (and the interests of those who make them) ahead of people’s basic need and human right to decent housing. So when an email from Chuka Umunna, MP for part of Lambeth, dropped into our inbox inviting us to meet him tomorrow, we felt that we had no choice but to challenge him on his regressive stance on a related housing issue: squatting. We sent the following response:"

"The campaigners said they were also protesting Section 144 of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act, which criminalises squatting in abandoned residential properties. Anna Gardener, another member of the group, said: “By using the building as a protest occupation, Section 144 cannot be applied. “We want to show the importance of being able to still use abandoned residential buildings for community protests such as ours.” As police wrestled two of the group’s members to the ground, they were then arrested. Fatima Pita, 28 and Filipo Yanis-Nikou, 27, are both set to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates court charged with trespassing in a residential building. While the council’s properties services team informed the police of the occupation, Cllr Blackwell said he was not personally in favour of the prosecution of protesters."

Police raid crushes squatting protest in Belsize Park - London - News - London Evening Standard

Police raid crushes squatting protest in Belsize Park - London - News - London Evening Standard:

"Police have raided a building that was occupied by squatters in protest at the sell-off of public housing. About 10 people had been staying in the former council-owned property "in shifts" before officers used a battering ram to smash the front door. A man and a woman were arrested and taken away in a riot van. Another man was bundled to the pavement but later released without charge. A sergeant at the scene said the pair were held on suspicion of breaking the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012, which criminalises squatting in a residential building. The released man, who gave his name as Harris Fletcher, 23, said: "We’re here to protest about the sell-off of council housing. We came to support the people inside after hearing the police were illegally threatening to break in." The property in Southampton Road, Belsize Park, includes a former party shop and flats above. Neighbours said it had been  empty and had fallen into disrepair. Camden council sold it at auction for £860,000. Two others nearby fetched £1.52 million."

Article from 23-02 12pm: Camden Housing Action Group is occupying council property on Southampton road to protest against its selling off to private developers.
Camden council has promised to the residents of Camden that no residential housing stock would be sold off, but non residential properties such as land and garages would be sold to fund new housing.
Without any consultation or public announcement Camden council broke its promise by offering up for auction several residential properties on Southampton road.
Camden housing action group is calling on Camden council to withdraw the properties from the sale, issue an explanation and confirm that no further sell offs will take place in the future.
Anna Gardener, a member of Camden housing action group said:
“Our occupation is a protest at the mass sell-off of desperately needed council housing in our borough, and the whole of London, which is exacerbating the housing crisis and amounts to social cleansing as low income residents are forced out of zones 1 and 2.
“Our occupation is also a challenge to section 144 of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders act which criminalises squatting in abandoned residential properties. By using the building as a protest occupation, section 144 cannot be applied. We want to show the importance of being able to still use abandoned residential buildings for community protests such as ours. Homes Not Jails.

Boris was in good jovial form and managed very well to evade difficult questions.
Suddenly a group of people, who had been sitting directly opposite Boris's view displayed signs of 'Home not Jails' A member of staff / security approached  and asked them not to display the signs. This was ignored and the  group became vocal 'Why are you criminalizing the homeless?'
More security arrived and people were ushered out. One man was physically lifted and carried out.
'Whose streets? Our streets! was chanted. It was never the less peaceful and order was quickly restored and the meeting called to resume at 11.14

Phoenix says keep these kind of housing protest squat occupations of residential buildings are  on the increase and we can make the draconian undemocratic anti squat law un workable,
The law states it is illegal to live in a squatted residential, but if we are occupying it on a temporary or rota basis,as a protest, then it may not be covered by the law, its usefull to have another bail address (like the old protest days),and state clearly to police on camera that it is a protest occupation.
Banners with protest slogans and Shelter is a basic human right may help.
Take action fuck the false housing crisis.Europe has 11million empty buildings,4.1 million homeless people, thats nearly 3 buildings for every homless person.
keep networking, keep occupying viva the resistance.

Spain's crash landlords: empty homes spawn black housing market | World news | The Guardian:

Madrid

"The hundreds of thousands of empty homes across Madrid has spawned a black market for cheap housing in which groups illegally break into, and then let, repossessed properties. Almost all the cases involving the properties, most of which now belong to Spanish banks, are identical, said Vicente Pérez, from a residents group, the Federación Regional de Asociaciones de Vecinos de Madrid: "Somebody goes and kicks in the door. Once he's in, the others come – and they sell the place.""

"Or rather these areas include some of the most expensive properties in the UK, but of course: a house is not always a home, and in keeping with the ethos of Broken Barnet, a house is more properly an investment, and a safeguard against a life less favourable, should your everyday life as the dictator of a developing world country, the member of a royal family in an absolute monarchy, or the capitalist Czar of a non tax paying corporation, end in tears, a quick flight to the UK - and an anonymous end in a tree-lined boulevard of broken dreams, here in Broken Barnet. Slumdog Billionaire - Britain's most expensive squats Phoenix on Russia Today

This is smaller piece we did other week on Bishops avenue.Link soon to larger piece that went out on Russia Today news,to its millions of viewers.
Cant believe the quote from Estate Agent " no one in their right mind would keep a building empty for longer than necessary."
Well there must be a lot of property investors, out of their right mind, out there land banking and buying to leave empty, just to accumulate more property value. Our government encourages the rotting housing market in the UK.

Homes for all is possible when there is 1.5 million empty buildings in the UK.
900,000 residential buildings (Empty Homes Agency Figures ) and 600,000 non residential /commercial properties (that its still legal to squat) Go on Just Do It!!!!!

Street Homelessness has doubled since the government criminalised residential squatting.
Today housing campaigners from Camden Housing Action Group squatted a council house that was for sale as a housing protest and the Police declined to arrest them, as they were occupying it as a protest rather than as somewhere to live. This is the third building occupied in this way and the Police have refused to arrest, after consulting with their inspectors.
This draconian law against sheltering in empty buildings is beginning to become un workable, viva the resistance.

WTF Govt tells planners " ignore carbon emissions when making decisions" URGENT ACTION: please take 5 minutes to respond to the government's draft roads policy, a disaster in the making. The deadline for responding is Feb 26, so please do it now!

URGENT ACTION: please take 5 minutes to respond to the government's draft roads policy, a disaster in the making. The deadline for responding is Feb 26, so please do it now!

The Government has published a draft National Policy Statement aimed at building new roads for 40% more car, van and lorry trips by 2040.  You can see it in full here: http://wordpress.us6.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=5784b0db3fb706a72bba27322&id=1da801d9cf&e=850baeedda

The new policy would let massive road-building plans take precedence over damage to nature, the countryside and precious landscapes.  It would allow thousands of extra lanes of road capacity, increase car dependency and choke our towns and cities with traffic we could otherwise avoid. The Government's own evidence shows people are already choosing better ways to travel where they can: traffic UK-wide is now lower than it was ten years ago.

Most outrageously, climate pledges are brushed under the carpet with a clause that prevents campaigners objecting to road projects on the grounds of carbon emissions.
Saying that other policies will 'offset' the impact of more car travel, the draft policy tells planning examiners to ignore carbon emissions when making decisions.

Please take 5 minutes to object: you can do so here: http://wordpress.us6.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5784b0db3fb706a72bba27322&id=283c87d46a&e=850baeedda.

!! Please sign and share, only two days left!! Created by Caroline Lucas. Russell Brand stated: Almost 2,000 young people die in the UK each year from taking illegal drugs of uncertain potency, that they can only get hold of on the illegal market. Leading police, doctors, and politicians agree prohibition has completely failed to curb addiction and instead is costing the UK £3 billion a year.

Over 100,000 Britons are arrested every year for using drugs – and of course it is the poor and minority users who are targeted, not the rich and powerful.

You may as well know that I believe contemporary democracy to be a meaningless charade designed to placate and distract - but I'm willing to be proved wrong. There’s a chance to start the debate, begin a sane and effective policy and save lives: Nick Clegg says he wants reform (at the moment- so act quick before he changes his mind) and the anomalously trustworthy MP Caroline Lucas has started a campaign to call for a full review of UK drugs policy. But we only have days to get 100,000 of us to join her so the government will be forced to debate it in Parliament. It will take 90-100 seconds (depending on typing skills). Please sign this thing:

38 Degrees | Blog | NHS: What is the Hospital Closure Clause?

38 Degrees | Blog | NHS: What is the Hospital Closure Clause?:
"NHS: WHAT IS THE HOSPITAL CLOSURE CLAUSE?"

'via Blog this'

WTF Save some hospitals support the NHS check 38 degrees and take some direct action

Jeremy Hunt is trying to sneak through a law which will give him the power to quickly close any local hospitalwithout listening to local people. No hospital is safe.

He’s changing the rules after losing twice in court trying to close Lewisham Hospital against the wishes of local people, doctors and nurses. The sweeping new law - the 'hospital closure clause' of the Care Bill - will give the government the power to shut down any hospital, in as little as 40 days, regardless of how well the hospital is performing. [1]

Jeremy Hunt is hell-bent on pushing this through. And time’s not on our side. It could be as little as one week before MPs vote this sinister threat into a reality.

If we’re going to have a chance of stopping Jeremy Hunt we need to throw the kitchen sink at this. And we need to move fast. Vote now to decide whether or not we should launch a big campaign. Yes or No?
Our NHS is precious. And it’s important that we know hospitals, accident and emergency and maternity services are there for us in moments of crisis and joy. It’s terrifying to imagine the government having the power to close any hospital without hearing the wishes of the local community.

It’s going to be tough to stop Jeremy Hunt. But we’ve done it before - twice in Lewisham alone. And if enough of us are keen, there are exciting possibilities for next steps. And new tactics we could try which would take even Jeremy Hunt by surprise!

The 38 Degrees staff team sit down on Monday morning to plan out the week ahead and decide on how we split up staff resources. The most important factor when making those decisions is what 38 Degrees members think.

Should trying to stop the hospital closure clause be 38 Degrees' top priority over the next few weeks? Please vote now to help decide whether to launch a big campaign by clicking on the buttons below.

Thanks for being involved,

Becky, Ian, Rebecca, David and the rest of the 38 Degrees team

PS: A study of NHS foundation trusts in England has found the number of those in financial trouble has nearly doubled in a year from 21 to 39. Jeremy Hunt has shown before he’s willing to close good hospitals to bail out ones which are struggling - this law would allow him to do this, even if local patients and doctors were strongly against it. [3]

BBC News - EU Commission launches legal action over UK air quality

BBC News - EU Commission launches legal action over UK air quality:
Sat image
"The European Commission has launched legal proceedings against the UK for failing to deal with air pollution. The EU says that levels of nitrogen dioxide, mainly from diesel engines, are "excessive" in many British cities. The Commission says that this gas can lead to major respiratory illnesses and premature deaths. Britain was supposed to meet EU limits by 2010, but the government admits that London won't achieve this standard until 2025. The UK's problem with dirty air stems from the EU's air pollution directive, which came into force in 2008."

It's Now Illegal To Be Homeless USA and UK both criminalising homeless

It's Now Illegal To Be Homeless:

It’s now illegal to be homeless, at least in Columbia, South Carolina.  Homeless people are set to be shipped off to a camp on the outskirts of town – but the kicker is that the shelter only has 250 beds, which are available on a first come, first serve basis.  Once you’re in the camp, there’s no way of leaving, and there’s no room for the other thousand homeless residents left in the city.  Sound too crazy to be true?  Just wach the video below.
And it’s not just the homeless who will have a tougher time.  People and organizations that wish to support or feed the homeless must pay a fee and obtain a permit 15 days in advance.  One affected charity, Food Not Bombs, said they now will have to pay at least $120 to host their weekly free meal picnic, in which they offer free food to anyone who needs it.  The organization has been holding these free picnics in Finlay Park every Sunday for the last 12 years.
According to the group’s organizer Judith Turnipseed, “We have no formal organization. We don’t have a 501(c)(3). We’re just a group of people who come to the park and bring food and share it with anyone who comes. That includes people who are homeless, and people who have a home but are hungry. It’s a people’s picnic.”
The government of Columbia has even removed several public benches from downtown areas, and have encouraged citizens to be ready to call police if they see anyone suspected of being homeless.  Do you think that this is the job of the government, or have they stepped too far?

Phoenix says "Also check my blog few days ago on the Met Police in London making it a crime to be rough sleeping in 6 central London boroughs.
http://phoenixrainbow23.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/met-plans-to-criminalise-homelessness.html

What the fuck they criminalise residential squatting ( homeless people sheltering themselves in some of the 900,000 empty residential buildings)
Then they declare it illegal to sleep rough. Homes not Jails. It costs £40,000 per year to keep someone in prison.
Homes for all campaign tenants and squatters unite.

The injustice and undemocratic actions of this government is blatant. Enuff is Enuff, take action occupy space and share, non residential squatting is still legal. Viva the resistance.

When they start rounding up the most marginalised and vulnerable  in our society, its time to wake up and take action.Because when they've imprisoned the squatters, the travellers and the homeless you know who they come for next. Fuck this government tyrrany.Shelter is a basic human right, there are enough homes and food for all, time to share ,begin the Earth repair Love n resistance phoenix"

US drug policy fuels push for legal pot worldwide - Story

US drug policy fuels push for legal pot worldwide - Story:

"WASHINGTON - In a former colonial mansion in Jamaica, politicians huddle to discuss trying to ease marijuana laws in the land of the late reggae musician and cannabis evangelist Bob Marley. In Morocco, one of the world's top producers of the concentrated pot known as hashish, two leading political parties want to legalize its cultivation, at least for medical and industrial use. And in Argentina, the nation's drug czar, a Catholic priest who has long served in its drug-ravaged slums, is calling for a public debate about regulating marijuana. From the Americas to Europe to North Africa and beyond, the marijuana legalization movement is gaining unprecedented traction — a nod to successful efforts in Colorado, Washington state and the small South American nation of Uruguay, which in December became the first country to approve nationwide pot legalization."

Change.org Theresa May: Refuse to allow the use of water cannons by any Police force across England and Wales to deal with anticipated street protests.

Theresa May: Refuse to allow the use of water cannons by any Police force across England and Wales to deal with anticipated street protests.

By Joanne Darrant
Stoke-on-Trent
I am a mother of two young children who has attended various protests in the past (the anti Iraq war demo for example). The demonstrations I've attended have always been peaceful. I have even taken my young children to protest.  So I was shocked to hear on the radio that the Mayor of London is prepared to fund the purchase of water cannons from Germany to be used by our police force "to respond to public disorder".
The right to protest is a fundamental right of any citizen in a democratic country.  The use of water cannons is highly dangerous and can result in serious injury.  As with the practice of kettling, water cannons are rarely used against dangerous rioters but as a way of deterring the peaceful protesters from future direct action.  When I did some research it didn't take me long to find evidence that water cannons are dangerous.  In Germany, where they are used by the police, a 66-year-old man was left blind after being hit by a jet from a water cannon.
The time is now to make sure this doesn't happen. For the police force to be able to use water cannons they must be approved both in England and Wales.  There is a consultation to help decide whether London police will adopt water cannons, it's open until 28th Feb. I seriously question how their use is going to be properly monitored and how innocent people will be spared from getting hurt. I am sending this petition in as a consultation response but need as many people as possible to sign before I do.
It is our right to take to the streets in a peaceful demonstration of our frustration or dissatisfaction about political events, without fear of being harmed.  Please support this petition to make sure we don't end up with peaceful demonstrations being turned into life ruining situations for decent ordinary people.
Thanks for your support - together we can make a change for the better.
